  • The Tri-Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is launching a workshop lasting four days in late March to help drivers start their own businesses.   • Tri-Cities Quilter's Guild is showcasing its quilt exhibit at Richland's Gallery at the Park until Jan. 30 & the nonprofit donates quilts to veterans and those in need, highlighting decades of local quilting artistry.  NBC Tri-Cities

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Shelley Redinger, superintendent of Richland School District, announced her retirement on Jan. 23; she will leave when her contract ends at the end of June 2027 after the board did not extend her contract.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business
  • Ballots for the Feb. 10 special election are being mailed to voters for all three Tri-Cities school districts as they seek to renew levies that cover 10 to 20 percent of school budgets — district leaders warn that without these funds, athletics and extracurricular programs may face cuts.  KEPR

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Port of Kennewick is seeking community input on its cleanup plan after forever chemicals were found at Vista Field, and officials will use soil test results to guide remediation efforts (more details will be shared soon).  KEPR
  • The Department of Fish and Wildlife is allocating $1.4 million to fund habitat restoration and install wildlife-friendly fencing for conservation groups and local Indian tribes in Eastern Washington, supporting projects that improve wildlife safety.  KEPR
