  • A Connell grass seed farm with a WSU researcher appears on Ask This Old House today, where producer Jason Miller demonstrates the seed process at Himark Farms.   • Trader Joe’s announced a new store in Woodinville (located at 14035 Northeast Woodinville-Duvall Road) that will open by late 2026 or early 2027, while residents in Tri-Cities continue to hope for a closer location.  KFLD

  • A special event highlighting women’s contributions at Hanford during the Cold War will be held as part of *Let's Talk About Hanford* to mark International Women’s Day.   • Tri-Cities Airport set a passenger record in 2025 with 975,372 travelers (over 25,000 more than in 2024), marking its third consecutive year of growth amid strong holiday travel demand, officials said.  NBC Tri-Cities

  • WSU professor Michael Neff and seed company co-owner Jason Miller will appear on Ask This Old House at a grass seed farm near Connell today, as the PBS episode highlights production methods and climate challenges (like warmer winters) affecting Kentucky bluegrass.  FOX 41 Yakima

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Local officials in Pasco urge gardeners to watch for invasive pests like the Japanese beetle as spring nears—homeowners in affected areas may soon receive removal instructions, and the Noxious Weed Control Board will assist in eliminating invasive tree of heaven from the Tri-Cities.  KEPR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Columbia Generating Station returned to service on Feb. 17 after workers repaired its cooling system and retested the equipment during the five-day outage. The 1,207 MWe plant maintained safe operations and will be refueled in March 2027 (Energy Northwest).  NBC Tri-Cities
