- ➤ A fire broke out at El Tequilas restaurant Tuesday at 6:40 a.m. in downtown Kennewick, and firefighters rescued several kittens+ from the blaze. NBC Tri-Cities
- ➤ Firefighters responded to an early morning fire at El Tequilas restaurant on Tuesday and rescued five soot-covered kittens from an attic in Kennewick. Tri-City Animal Services is now caring for the kittens and they may be available for adoption after treatment. NBC Tri-Cities

- ➤ A recent survey finds Washington ranks second for UFO sightings, placing Tri-Cities near hotspots like Badger Mountain + Candy Mountain where locals may glimpse unusual activity. 610 KONA
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ WSU Tri-Cities researchers secured awards through WSU President Betsy Cantwell's Big Ideas Initiative earlier this year. The funding provided $300,000 for The OneNuclear Initiative to boost nuclear energy research and $75,000 for the Professional Educator Pathways project to support teacher training. - ➤ Pasco Airport welcomed a state-of-the-art fire-rescue truck during a traditional push-in event this week — the unit, holding 1,500 gallons of water and advanced safety chemicals, will replace a 2009 model to enhance emergency response.
