COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Jersey Mike’s Subs in Kennewick held its annual Day of Giving on March 26, donating 100% of its proceeds to the Arc of Tri-Cities as part of its Month of Giving initiative + customers who donated $5 received a free sub with coupons valid until June 30.  FOX 41 Yakima

CRIME NEWS

  • Benton County Sheriff's Office said Schoneck was arrested Wednesday morning after deputies found him on Bryon Brown Road following a chase that began when he ran from a traffic stop near SR 397 and Bowles Road on Tuesday night—authorities say he now faces charges for fleeing police, kidnapping and possession of firearms.  Apple Valley News Now

ECONOMY NEWS

  • CBRE Inc. reported that Central Washington added over 84 megawatts of data center capacity in the past year to reach nearly 250 megawatts with less than half a megawatt remaining, showing high demand. Local plans—including zoning updates in West Richland and talks near Wallula—could lead to hundreds of new jobs and boost the economy by tapping cheap hydroelectric power and state incentives.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Former NASA astronaut Jose Hernandez visited Pasco through a partnership with Blue Mountain Scouts to speak at local schools and share his journey from a migrant background to becoming an astronaut — he encouraged students to set high goals while enjoying the journey.  FOX 41 Yakima

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Researchers at Washington State University said that honeybee colonies lost about half their numbers each year for the past decade and early data shows losses in 2025 could hit 60—70% due to poor nutrition, mites, diseases, and pesticide exposure last season. This decline will add pressure on beekeepers and may affect pollination for local fruit growers.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Franklin County has invited proposals for its Historic Preservation Grant Program to help preserve local heritage in Pasco — the application period began on March 26 and will continue until April 15 at 3:00 p.m., with selected projects starting no earlier than June 1.  NBC Tri-Cities

  • Pasco residents planning a yard sale this spring must secure a permit and follow rules that allow only two sales a year—10 expert tips guide them on cleaning items, advertising the sale, and understanding local differences—and the advice helps sellers earn cash quickly.  610 KONA

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The Port of Kennewick sold four parcels on March 25th to BlueChart Homes— a joint venture of Levi Holmes and Benjamin Paulus— to develop a mix of row houses, townhouses and attached or detached units into a residential community that could eventually include up to 300 homes. BlueChart plans to start with 32 new homes and expand the project in phases at Vista Field.  610 KONA
