COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Wilco hosted a free 'Flock Talk' event in Yakima on April 1st at 6:00 p.m. where experts explained chicken-raising tips for both beginners and experienced owners; a similar session is held at the Pasco Wilco Farm Store today at 6:00 p.m. (no RSVP required).  FOX 41 Yakima

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On March 30, 2025, Richland police said a woman was treated for serious injuries after she jumped from a second floor window to escape a duplex fire on Roberdeau St.—Firefighters rescued several dogs, some of which needed special help to breathe.  FOX 41 Yakima
  • A 45 year old woman was struck and killed when a 22 year old Richland driver hit her as she crossed northbound on Foster Wells Road near milepost 25 on March 31st — the driver was unharmed while his white 2025 Ram Promaster sustained damage and no charges were filed.  FOX 41 Yakima

CRIME NEWS

  • Off-duty WSP trooper Sarah Clasen remains free after the March 1 crash on State Route 240 and Village Parkway in Richland that killed a 20-year-old; her toxicology report showed a blood alcohol level of 0.17 and investigators noted discrepancies in her account versus the crash scene.  NBC Tri-Cities

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Senate Bill 5583 narrowly passed in the Senate and would raise hunting and fishing fees on July 1 if the House approves it (the first fee change since 2011). The bill would also offer seniors a 66% discount on licenses (for those aged 70 and older).  KFLD

HEALTH NEWS

  • Kadlec Regional Hospital raised a flag above its Richland facility on April 1 to honor National Donate Life Month and urge residents to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors. The hospital said one donor can save up to eight lives & highlighted the ongoing need to reduce long transplant waitlists.  FOX 41 Yakima
  • A study released on Tuesday, April 1, showed that people in coastal areas with high microplastic pollution have higher rates of high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke (researchers say the link is not proven to be cause and effect) and more work is needed to learn how these tiny plastic particles affect our health.  FOX 41 Yakima

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Tri-City Dust Devils met with reporters today at Gesa Stadium to discuss plans for their season opener on Friday against the Vancouver Canadians. Manager Dann Bilardello — who has worked with the Dodgers, Red Sox, and Cardinals — said the team will focus on fundamentals to compete through the weekend.  Apple Valley News Now
  • The Tri-City Americans return home today at the Toyota Center at 7:05 p.m. to play game three of their WHL playoff series against the Victoria Royals after losing the first two games—Captain Jake Sloan and Coach Stu Barnes said the team will work to strengthen its play and overcome the deficit.  Apple Valley News Now
