- ➤ An early-morning standoff Tuesday near 100 North Irving Place just off Clearwater Ave ended when Kennewick police and the Tri-City Regional SWAT apprehended a man who allegedly threatened his neighbor around 6:47 a.m., and the suspect (Dexon Rex) was taken into custody and booked on threat and harassment charges (with two unrelated warrants) with no injuries reported. - ➤ On March 1, off-duty WSP trooper Sarah Clasen spent about four hours at Moon Palace in Richland, leaving at 7:30 p.m., and picked up a pizza minutes before a fatal crash killed 20-year-old Jhoser Sanchez—her blood-alcohol level was 0.17%. NBC Tri-Cities

- ➤ Columbia Basin College hosted an event on April 2 to mark World Autism Awareness Day by handing out candy and brochures that taught students about self-advocacy — an accessibility specialist and student encouraged those with disabilities to seek support and announced a documentary on the disability civil rights movement coming on April 16. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The United States Postal Service (USPS) is investing $40 billion through its ten-year Delivering for America plan to upgrade mail services in Pasco, with nearly $135 million already spent in Washington this year. The upgrades include new sorting machines and Next Generation Delivery Vehicles (NGDVs) that add safety features to help postal workers work more efficiently. Apple Valley News Now
- ➤ The U.S. Postal Service began its ten-year Delivering for America plan with a $135 million investment in Washington — the event in Pasco showcased facility upgrades, including new vehicles, 11 state-of-the-art sorting machines and other improvements as announced by Postmaster General Lewis DeJoy on Wednesday. The upgrades will help speed up mail and package delivery statewide. KFLD
- ➤ The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife launched an online survey on salmon and steelhead management in the Lower Columbia River to collect public input on conservation risks and fishing opportunities—Senior Research Scientist Thomas Buehrens said the survey will guide updates to fishing rules and the fishery management plan. - ➤ Pasco Post Office hosted a public tour where residents saw new technology that included two machines (designed to speed up package sorting) and a new fleet set to gradually replace older vehicles. Postal leaders said that mail will still be processed in Spokane despite the upgrades. KEPR
