- ➤ Lamb Weston reported a 4% increase in net sales and a drop in operating costs of over $15 million in its latest earnings report—projecting net sales between $6.35 billion and $6.45 billion for its fiscal year ending May 31—and noted challenges from soft restaurant traffic. - ➤ The Washington State Department of Agriculture has resumed treating areas in Eastern Washington such as Pasco for invasive Japanese beetles that harm native flowers and young lawns — TruGreen will treat over 17,000 properties if owners grant permission after receiving flyers. KFLD
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lawmakers in Oregon and Washington are considering bills to provide unemployment benefits to striking workers after recent walkouts by Boeing factory workers, nurses, and teachers—proposals now moving through the House. The Washington measure would offer benefits for up to 12 weeks after two weeks on the line while Oregon’s bill would cover public picketing employees. FOX 41 Yakima
- ➤ The City of Pasco invites residents and stakeholders to join two listening sessions on the Shoreline Master Program user guide — scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on April 16 and May 20 in the Council Chambers at City Hall at 525 N. 3rd Ave—to review the guide and offer feedback; the sessions will help balance environmental protection with public access and water use.
