  • On Sunday, Tumbleweed Cat Rescue will host a cat adoption event at Paw’s Pet Emporium in Kennewick from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.—experienced foster Heather Peak said the event offers a relaxed chance for people to meet and ask questions about the cats.  NBC Tri-Cities

CRIME NEWS

  • Tri-Cities police warned of a rise in unsafe, illegal mini-motor bikes being ridden on public streets and parks; on Monday night, an officer tried stopping two riders on Clearwater Avenue and one collided after his emergency lights were activated—officials said the crash left a teen seriously injured for not wearing a helmet.  KEPR

  • The SageFen Maker Fest is underway at the Red Lion Hotel where makers join sci-fi and fantasy themed crafts, workshops and a costume contest; classes began April 4 at 2 p.m. (the opening ceremony took place at 6 p.m. and an artist reception ran from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.).  NBC Tri-Cities
  • The Pasco Aviation Museum reopens its doors today—offering views of vintage aircraft, rare photos, and World War II memorabilia—at 4102 N Stearman Ave with admission at $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors while veterans get free entry. The museum, located on the historic former Naval Air Station Pasco, highlights local aviation history and will welcome visitors until 4 p.m.  Apple Valley News Now
  • The SageFen Maker Fest returned this weekend at the Red Lion Hotel in Pasco, offering a science fiction and fantasy themed celebration with crafting, classes, workshops, presentations and a costume contest. Activities included metal and woodworking, painting, prop building, costume creation, leatherworking and 3D printing, with classes that started April 4 at 2 p.m., an opening ceremony at 6 p.m. and an artist reception from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.  FOX 41 Yakima

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in the Tri-Cities rose as the average price of regular unleaded hit $4.11 on April 4 — up 5 cents from the previous day and higher than last week and last month. State lawmakers may raise taxes in the coming months, though prices remain below the averages seen last year and in 2022.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Pasco will celebrate Arbor Day on April 25 at Volunteer Park with a ceremonial tree planting and the unveiling of the new Tree Walk—100 attendees will receive small trees donated by McCurley Subaru and audio descriptions will be provided by local high school students in English and Spanish.  FOX 41 Yakima

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Washington lawmakers and Gov. Ferguson are debating new tax measures to close a $16 billion budget gap during the final weeks of the session; proposals include a wealth tax on assets over $50 million and changes to property, payroll and business taxes that would shift more costs to high net worth individuals, large companies and others. The bills—aimed at reducing a regressive tax system—will be negotiated before the session ends on April 27.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business
