CULTURE NEWS

  • Pasco is celebrating 100 years of aviation history as the Tri-Cities honors the first air mail delivery initiated by World War I pilot Walter Varney in 1926. The Commercial Aviation Centennial Committee and the Pasco Aviation Museum highlight his legacy to inspire future generations.  NBC Tri-Cities

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tomorrow, April 9, the Port of Pasco will hold a meeting to consider selling 30 acres at the Reimann Industrial Center to Cold Summit Development—a cold storage firm from Idaho that requested revised terms on a $4.5 million deal. If approved, the sale will mark the company’s only Pacific Northwest property and bring a unique Energy Star Certified facility to the area.  610 KONA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Pasco will hold two public listening sessions on Wednesday, April 16th and Tuesday, May 20th at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall (525 N. 3rd Ave) to gather input on updating its Shoreline Management Plan for the Columbia River as required by state law.  610 KONA
  • Two residential habilitation centers, Yakima Valley School in Selah and Rainier School in Buckley, may close if House Bill 1472 passes—an executive session on the bill is scheduled for tomorrow. State Rep. Joshua Penner warned that closing the centers could put residents needing round-the-clock care at risk.  FOX 41 Yakima
  • The City of Pasco is nearing completion of phase two upgrades at West Pasco’s water treatment plant, which will install new equipment to manage solids handling, add intake pumps, and upgrade the booster pump station. The $12.5 million phase is financed with city funds, ARPA funds and a $12 million DWSRF loan, and officials expect to distribute 12 million gallons a day by June or July—after final tracing tests from the Department of Health.  NBC Tri-Cities

  • Driver Zach Riehl claimed victory in Sunday's main event of the 56th Bonney's TYM Apple Cup at Tri-City Raceway—where warm weather helped a great turnout. Raceway officials said the track will host the Duel in the Desert on May 24—offering more racing excitement for local fans.  Apple Valley News Now
