Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 28th of April.
Good morning, Pasco.
🏘️ Community
Leadership Tri-Cities Class 28 will begin landscaping 21,000 square feet outside the future Columbia Valley Center for Recovery in Kennewick on May 9—this project takes place on the renovated former Kennewick General Hospital campus and follows a successful $30,000 fundraising campaign. Additional donations will support the recovery coalition until May 30.
Kennewick has improved its ranking by climbing from 60 to 50 on Livability.com's Top 100 Best Places To Live list, placing third in the Pacific Northwest behind Vancouver and Gresham — the improvement highlights the city's low natural disaster risk, quality air, affordable housing and strong transportation options. This ranking reflects the continued appeal of the Tri-Cities as a place to live and work.
🚧 Accidents
Richland Police are investigating a fatal single-car crash on Columbia Park Trail and SR 240 in Richland; both lanes are closed with westbound lanes expected to remain closed for some time while eastbound lanes may reopen soon—officials advise drivers to avoid the area.
