CRIME NEWS

  • Two convicted murderers of beloved Kennewick coach Bob Mars are petitioning for early release with one hearing set for July 16th, a second hearing in February next year, & a community concern meeting on June 23rd where the Mars family can present impact statements.  KFLD
  • Early Wednesday morning, Kennewick Police reported that a driver in a felony eluding chase hit a canal embankment near West 1st Avenue + South Benton Street after failing to stop for an equipment violation, with both the driver and passenger fleeing on foot while the car was seized + an ongoing investigation continues.  NBC Tri-Cities

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Washington State University Tri-Cities announced a Nursing Bridge Program that will let 10 local students earn a nursing degree and gain hands-on experience at local hospitals like Lourdes and Kadlec this fall. The program is funded by nearly $170,000 from the Department of Labor’s Washington Career Connect Program + students who complete the required prerequisites will gain direct admission to nursing school.  NBC Tri-Cities
  • Pasco School District unveiled its custom-built 2,000-square-foot Team Pasco Home on May 28, built by over 50 students from local high schools and featuring three bedrooms + flex room + covered patio + two-car garage. The program provided students with career training and raised up to $20,000 in scholarships as it marked its 25th home project.  FOX 41 Yakima

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local musician Faith Martin and her duo partner Bobby Nelsen will perform at Dalset Wines in Benton City on June 29th (2-4 p.m.) to support Mental Health Awareness Month and share her story of how music and wine have helped people feel better.
