COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A new car wash called Surf Thru Express opened its first Pasco location on Wednesday and is offering free car washes through Sunday while hosting a food drive for Second Harvest Food Bank. A grand opening event is set for June 10 at 2 p.m.—located at 4621 Convention Place.  KEPR
  • Adventures Underground in Richland will host Mushroom Fest 2025 from June 6th to 8th, offering live music, local vendors, crafts, food trucks, games, and in-store sales—celebrating 18 years of service to the community. The free event runs daily from 10 AM to 7 PM and will bring fun for all ages.  KFLD

BUSINESS NEWS

  • At the end of April, Costa Vida Fresh Mexican Grill permanently closed its Richland restaurant on Gage Boulevard and urged customers to use loyalty points and gift cards at its Duportail Street location — the chain is based in Utah and also has outlets in Pasco and Kennewick.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business

CRIME NEWS

  • On May 25, the Pasco Police responded to a shooting near Club 69 Night Club at the intersection of 4th Avenue & Columbia Street where two people suffered non-life threatening injuries and detectives are asking for information and video to aid the investigation.  KEPR
  • On May 28th, 2025 a woman was taken into custody in Pasco on accusations of embezzling $750,000 from the Pacific Outpost Dispensary after an audit found nearly $600,000 was missing and records showed she withdrew about $200,000 on a company credit card—officials also discovered she sent money to family in Mexico—her bail was set at $25,000.  KEPR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Pasco School District celebrated its milestone with the completion of a 2,000-square-foot student-built home at 8413 Ashen Drive, built by high school students with local companies—marking its 25th project. Construction instructor John Marshall said the project offered a hands-on learning experience—securing scholarships for several graduating students.  KEPR

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • WSDA addressed high nitrate levels in the Pasco Basin by testing 75 wells and giving free tabletop reverse osmosis units to residents after two-thirds of the wells exceeded safe drinking standards. It worked with the Benton Franklin Health District and will begin a second round of sampling in fall 2025—also testing 40 wells in the Walla Walla Basin.  FOX 41 Yakima

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Bonneville Power Administration announced it will install 18 miles of new high-voltage lines and a new substation in Richland to boost infrastructure—the environmental impact study is now available for public review—and BPA will host an open house at Cottonwood Elementary School in Kennewick on June 4 at 6 p.m.  KEPR

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Tri-Cities community is preparing for the Great Strides Walk at Fingernail in Howard Amon Park in Richland (with a 9:00 a.m. gathering and a 10:00 a.m. start) to raise awareness for cystic fibrosis. Andrew’s Army will join the walk to support Andrew Holmes and others with CF (their involvement highlights local commitment to health support).  FOX 41 Yakima
