COMMUNITY NEWS

  • American Legion Post 34 will join the Port of Kennewick and the City of Kennewick to host a Dignified Disposal of Colors event at the Regional Veterans Memorial in Columbia Park on June 14th at 7:30 p.m. Residents are invited to bring worn American flags for proper disposal as mandated by federal guidelines + the event honors our national tradition + and supports respectful flag retirement.  KFLD
  • Local American Legion Post 34, Port of Kennewick and the City of Kennewick are hosting a Dignified Disposal of Colors event on June 14th at the Regional Veterans Memorial in Columbia Park starting at 7:30 p.m.—Residents are invited to bring their worn American flags for respectful burning in line with the U.S. Flag Code.  610 KONA
  • Toyota Center graduation events will have new parking rules and a strict clear bag policy that all guests must follow. The parking lot next to the center will be unavailable, so parking will be accessed from Okanogan Pl with extra spots opening at Vista Field & on-site attendants directing traffic.  KFLD
  • Today, Toyota Center in Kennewick announced changes for graduation events requiring drivers to use the parking lot behind the center via Okanogan Pl and additional parking at Vista Field off Grandridge Blvd—attendees must also follow a clear bag policy that bans outside food and reentry.  610 KONA

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Darigold Inc. has begun processing milk at its new Pasco plant while work continues on a second milk dryer that will be completed by year-end — when the facility will process up to 8 million pounds of milk a day to make butter and powdered milk for domestic and global markets while directly employing 200 people and supporting about 1,000 additional local jobs.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business

HEALTH NEWS

  • A recent study found that women with high insulin levels were three times more likely to have irregular menstrual bleeding including prolonged or heavy periods. The research tracked 205 premenopausal women from 2019 to 2023 and suggests that better blood sugar control may help prevent abnormal bleeding—further investigations will clarify these findings.  FOX 41 Yakima
