  • The American Red Cross is ramping up its operations as wildfire threats increase in the region. It has pre-positioned supplies and arranged agreements with local groups—like schools and churches—to support longer evacuations and is asking for more volunteers.  KEPR
  • In Pasco, a senior dog lost three years ago was reunited with its Missouri owner after a viral post by Tri-Cities Animal Shelter—an event that brings relief to both families involved.  Apple Valley News Now
  • Spectrum Studios, a local non-profit, is starting a new program called the Empower Center for Growth to offer job training and life skills for young adults with autism beginning at age 16.   • Off-duty Kennewick police officer Fernando Ramos was arrested on DUI charges after he crashed into a parked car on north Montana Street at 9:48 p.m. on June 18—he posted a $1,000 bond on June 19 and was released while an internal investigation is underway.  Apple Valley News Now
  • Off-duty Kennewick officer Fernando Ramos was arrested after his car crashed into a parked vehicle on Wednesday just before 10 p.m.—no one was hurt as KPD will launch an internal investigation while the Benton County Sheriff's Office leads an independent DUI probe.  KFLD

CULTURE NEWS

  • The PNW Collector Convention is set to begin tomorrow at the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick—spanning 20,000 square feet for collectors to network, trade and display sports cards, coins and memorabilia. The free, family-friendly event on June 21 and 22 will offer vendor booths, food concessions and planned guest appearances.  NBC Tri-Cities

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Officials in Kennewick and the USGS are studying harmful algae blooms in the Columbia River due to rising water temperatures—set to cost $150,000 with Kennewick matching $25,000—while advising local residents to avoid the blooms.  FOX 41 Yakima
  • Washington anglers can plan for the 2025–26 salmon fishing season as the fish and wildlife agency finalized new regulations and launched a blog to update on rule changes and closures. Printed regulation pamphlets will arrive at license dealers and offices late in June—while the Fish Washington app updates its data by July 1.  610 KONA
