CRIME NEWS
- ➤ County officials warned residents that fraudulent emails using planning director Wes McCart’s name and false permit details are circulating; those who receive the emails should call 509-545-3521 to report the scam. Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pasco city council awarded a $351,270.09 bid to Ellison Earthworks to upgrade the intersection of A Street and 6th Avenue—adding new sidewalks, curb ramps, pavement markings and flashing beacons—and the project will start immediately to improve pedestrian safety. FOX 41 Yakima
- ➤ At a city council meeting on July 15, officials in Richland will update the Downtown Loop (renamed from the Downtown Connectivity Improvements Project) that will turn George Washington Way and Jadwin Avenue into one-way streets, add bike lanes, widen sidewalks and improve lighting for safer crossings. Construction will begin in spring 2026 and finish by fall/winter 2027 (the design is set to complete by December 31 with a public open house scheduled for October). FOX 41 Yakima
- ➤ The city of Pasco has issued a $2.2 million permit for a project set to replace a petroleum pipeline under the Snake River using horizontal directional drilling. The 2,355-foot bore will run from Walla Walla County to Pasco — it will exit at the fuel distribution terminal for the existing line. Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business
