Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 15th of July.
Good morning, Pasco.
Pasco hay farmers Everett and Sandra Wray started Garden Gate Nursery 20 years ago with 450 container trees and now grow about 65,000 trees on 50 acres along Sagemoor Road.
The nursery sells to landscapers, contractors and retail customers and uses drip irrigation and careful pruning to maintain high quality — a unique method that meets regional needs.
A Pasco couple, Olivia and Chris Clouse, bought Voodoo Signature Spices and Sauces in mid-April from former owner Ken Avery—who sold the business to pursue new projects—and they plan to keep the classic recipes while adding new flavors and expanding sales in local stores and at events.
Developer James Sexton told port commissioners on July 9 that he was ready to install sewer and water lines for the first phase of a mixed-use project at Osprey Pointe, but officials required a written request, an updated schedule, and a landscaping plan before moving forward.
Sexton has invested roughly $3 million (and planned to buy the initial acreage for just under $2 million) while port staff said they expect a purchase and sale agreement within four weeks.
A young man who repeatedly rode his motorcycle over 100 MPH on I-182 was captured on Sunday evening after months of eluding officers + he wore a shirt reading 'Don't Get Caught' and is now in jail facing multiple charges.
Daughtry, a Grammy nominee (an American Idol alum who became famous in 2006), will perform at the Benton-Franklin Fair on Wednesday night August 20 at 7:45 p.m. Tickets are available at the fair box office and online.
Two renewable natural gas projects went online in Richland to convert gas from a landfill and a potato digester into usable natural gas by Cascade Natural Gas.
The Lamb Weston Potato Digester project reached a milestone by powering between 1,500 and 2,000 homes — a key step to meeting the Climate Commitment Act.
Pasco city rules now allow residents to park RVs, boats, and trailers in front of their homes for up to 72 hours every two weeks—this parking is only for loading and unloading.
Guests may also park on the street if their vehicle does not fit in a driveway, and vehicles must be moved after 72 hours—residents are encouraged to report any violations via AskPasco or the non-emergency police line.
