- ➤ Washington's Department of Natural Resources installed 21 AI-powered cameras at high-risk wildfire areas to scan for smoke 24/7 and now residents can view the same real-time feeds used by firefighters. The five-year pilot project funded by 2021 legislation has already helped identify fires across the state and will add five more cameras soon — strengthening early fire detection as fire season approaches.
