  • Nonprofit iCan Shine in Kennewick runs the iCan Bike program that teaches people with disabilities how to ride bikes so they can be independent riders. The program offers a summer camp (that started yesterday and runs until August 1) along with after-school sessions for both kids and adults.  NBC Tri-Cities

CRIME NEWS

  • Franklin County investigators arrested Jesse Castillo Monday after DNA tests linked evidence from 13-year-old Anna Pelayo’s clothing to him in connection with her 1997 murder near Pasco — he is now held at the Franklin County Corrections Facility with his next court date set for August 12.  Apple Valley News Now
  • Benton County deputies said a 19-year-old woman was accidentally shot in the back and taken to hospital for surgery on July 28 in Prosser — witnesses have not provided any information and the alleged shooter left before emergency crews arrived.  Apple Valley News Now

  • A $100 surcharge on marriage licenses now funds a domestic violence co-responder program in Washington — couples should apply at least three weeks before their wedding so they can meet the three-day waiting period and 60-day license validity requirement.  610 KONA
