Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 21st of August.
Good morning, Pasco.
🎭 Culture
Pasco Aviation Museum, housed at Bergstrom Aircraft, will begin renovations for a new showcase hangar and event space over the next 18 months — part of its ongoing fundraising efforts.
The museum also will host Air Jubilee on Sept. 26.
🌲 Environment
Crews at Hanford Site transferred 79,000 gallons of radioactive and chemical waste from Tank A-106 into a newer double-shell tank in less than seven months, marking the 24th emptied single-shell tank.
Workers are set to begin retrieval from Tank A-103 in September as cleanup continues toward the 2040 deadline.
🏛️ Government
City officials approved new efficiency goals to lower average residential water use from 330 to 300 gallons and cap annual distribution losses at 10 percent — a measure required by state law.
Pasco will report performance annually to the state health department and update the goals every ten years.
📰 Lifestyle
Doug (a 2-year-old husky mix) is available for adoption in Pasco; he loves fetch, car rides and pup cups and must go to a cat-free home.
His vaccines are up-to-date and he gets along well with kids, dogs and strangers.
