COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On August 24th, 182 residents in West Richland lost power when an unexpected outage struck—Benton REA reported that crews were dispatched to restore electricity.  NBC Tri-Cities

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A crash on US 395 just outside of Pasco on Sunday killed Mark Wallum, 76—a passenger in a Chevrolet Trax—and injured the driver and an 18-year-old passenger in the Trax along with a Deer Park resident driving a Toyota Rav4 when the Trax driver failed to yield while turning onto Crestloch Road, with all occupants wearing seatbelts and no drugs or alcohol involved.  Apple Valley News Now

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tri-Cities Airport in Pasco recorded 282,452 enplanements through July and is on track to reach over 500,000 passengers by year-end—an all-time record for the airport. Passenger numbers have shown steady gains since 2020 with growth rates of 10% to 13% per month in early 2025.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On August 24, a power outage left 182 West Richland homes without electricity—Benton REA crews restored power by 5:45 p.m. and said they will provide further updates if needed.  NBC Tri-Cities
  • West Richland’s SR 224 Red Mountain Vicinity Improvements Project remains on hold as the Operating Engineers Local 302 strike delays work and workers may return Tuesday, August 26 although their return is unconfirmed. Apollo Construction manages the site while Ziply Fiber continues relocation work between Grosscup Blvd and the CID canal—preparing for upcoming grading, a new roundabout, and underground utilities work.  NBC Tri-Cities
  • West Richland's SR 224 Red Mountain Vicinity Improvements Project remains delayed due to an ongoing strike—workers may return Tuesday, August 26 if confirmed while Apollo Construction manages the site and Ziply Fiber continues relocation work.  FOX 41 Yakima
