ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Benton County sheriff’s deputies said a single vehicle crash near 27th and Oak St in east Kennewick damaged about 25 feet of wooden fencing and led to a DUI arrest — officials ask drivers to avoid the area for about one hour.  NBC Tri-Cities
  • A pick-up truck caught fire on I-182 westbound near the interchange with Highways 395 and 397 at about 3:40 p.m. on August 28—first responders put out the flames as traffic backed up along Pasco-Kahlotus Road and one person was taken to hospital.  Apple Valley News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • The Kennewick Police Department executed a search warrant yesterday in the 10000 block of Ridgeline Drive and detained 18-year-old Ramiro Campos-Castro while Tri-City Regional SWAT, the METRO Drug Task Force, and KPD detectives supported the operation—recovering a stolen firearm—and booked him on charges of unlawful and stolen firearm possession.  FOX 41 Yakima
  • Dr. Mark Mulholland, who worked at Kadlec for over 20 years, is facing lawsuits that allege sexual assault and unneeded medical procedures as 19 complaints have been filed since 2003 and the Washington Medical Commission is investigating his actions—court proceedings are expected.  NBC Tri-Cities

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Engineers from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302 are striking due to contract disputes over fair pay as the walkout began earlier this month. The strike is now affecting Myra Road (Walla Walla), Dallas Roundabout, Richland Landfill and the new Pasco Aquatic Center.  KEPR

HEALTH NEWS

  • Benton County Mosquito Control District confirmed three West Nile Virus positive mosquito pools in Kennewick this year plus no human or animal cases have been recorded. Benton-Franklin Health District urged residents to avoid mosquito bites by draining standing water around their homes.  KEPR
