- ➤ This fall, residents will be able to show support for local veterans by placing yard signs in front yards as part of the Every Family for Every Veteran campaign. The Columbia Basin Veterans Center raised funds this morning and set the campaign to remind veterans that help is available at 988—uniting the community. Apple Valley News Now
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Late Monday afternoon, Richland and Pasco Police worked together to locate five children after a kidnapping and domestic violence incident at a home on Jason Loop — 37-year-old Juan Daniel Salas, who assaulted a person with a bat, was arrested near the new Dairygold plant north of Pasco. 610 KONA
- ➤ Washington State Patrol Trooper Sarah Clasen is scheduled for a court date on September 24 for vehicular homicide while under the influence after a March 1 crash killed 20-year-old Jhoser Sanchez — whose mother hopes Clasen is held to the same standards as civilians — as the family continues to seek justice. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Health leaders report that toxic algae in the Columbia River near Howard Amon Park have reached dangerous levels this season and caution pet owners and families—dogs and infants should avoid contact as the solids in the algae can cause illness. Tests show the algae may lead to breathing difficulty and dizziness in dogs, and the season is expected to end early November. KEPR

- ➤ Visit Tri-Cities is seeking over 1,300 volunteers for the upcoming IRONMAN 70.3 Washington Tri-Cities triathlon that will bring thousands of participants and supporters to our region and will offer official T-shirts and refreshments to those who help with tasks like checking in athletes, handing out water, and greeting finishers — all while boosting local tourism and economic opportunity.
