COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Friends of Mid-Columbia Libraries will host a fall used book sale at the Kennewick branch at 1620 South Union Street from September 24th to 28th—FOL members will have a special pre-sale on September 23rd from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., with all proceeds benefiting the libraries.  610 KONA
  • A fashion show fundraiser is coming to Pasco as announced on September 18—organizers plan to support local charities with the event and will share further details soon.  Apple Valley News Now
  • Several parks, boat ramps and parking areas in Richland and West Richland will be closed from Friday, September 19 through Sunday, September 21 due to the upcoming Tri-Cities IRONMAN race—temporary no parking zones and detours will affect traffic with detours starting Sunday at 6:00 a.m. and athletes expected between 8:00 a.m. and noon.  NBC Tri-Cities

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Pasco School District will host its first bus driver job fair Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Transportation Center on Stearman Avenue—aiming to hire at least 60 drivers to meet rising needs as new high schools increase routes and current drivers take on extra assignments.  Apple Valley News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Secretary of State Steve Hobbs visited the Tri-Cities election center on Thursday, September 18 and was guided through the updated Benton County Election Center — attached to the Benton County Justice Center — which now bolsters secure and transparent voting.  FOX 41 Yakima

HEALTH NEWS

  • Researchers found that female veterans improved bladder control using the MyHealtheBladder app—which offered daily pelvic floor exercises over eight weeks—and telehealth visits with experts, with both methods proving equally effective by 12 weeks.  FOX 41 Yakima
