- ➤ Kennewick’s Three Rivers Convention Center is hosting its annual tattoo convention today — running through Sunday with tattoo artistry, seminars, acrobatics, special deals and a complimentary car show. Entry is $15 per day, with a three-day pass for $35 and free admission for children five and under. FOX 41 Yakima
- ➤ Tri-Cities Animal Services in Pasco will host the 'Felines and Firefighters' event on September 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The city partners with local fire departments to promote cat adoptions—most animals have been treated, vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered with a $50 fee. - ➤ Ahava Coffee has signed a lease for a new shop in Badger Heights Plaza — across from Country Mercantile in Badger Mountain South. - ➤ Tri-Cities Prep in Pasco completed a $3.2 million expansion this fall that added six new classrooms including a science lab and over 10,000 square feet of learning space to eliminate portable classrooms and nearly double capacity — the new wing is already in use for testing and learning support. - ➤ Richland City Council unanimously backed a plan to drop a $20 car tab fee in favor of a 0.1% sales tax increase expected to generate about $2.25 million annually for road repairs. The tax will take effect in January—council members call it a big win—and could serve as a model as nearby Pasco weighs similar TBD options. 610 KONA
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled 130,000 Persilux zebra blinds sold on Amazon between June 2023 and June 2025 because the cords present a strangulation risk to children. Consumers were advised to stop using the blinds immediately (no injuries have been reported). FOX 41 Yakima
- ➤ A study found that skin-to-skin care helps boost brain growth in babies born too early—research tracked 88 infants in the hospital and found longer cuddle sessions are linked to changes in brain areas that control feelings and stress.
