- ➤ Pasco City is hosting Spooky Hall on Friday, October 31 from 3 pm to 5 pm at City Hall on Sylvester Street and 3rd Avenue where families will enjoy safe trick-or-treating in a festive setting — local staff and volunteers will guide guests through decorated halls and hand out candy. 610 KONA
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Pasco’s HAPO Center will host the Tri-Cities Brick Convention from October 11 to October 12 where visitors can view displays by local LEGO artists, shop for new and vintage sets, and explore build pits—special guests Madison Rice, Stephen Forthofer, and master artist ACPin will appear, and a portion of the proceeds will support Creations for Charity. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Stephanie King, a Granger High School English teacher, received the 2026 Horace Mann Award for Teaching Excellence as one of five top public school teachers nationwide and published a book with her students, We Are America: Granger, about their lives in Granger. She will reinvest part of the $10,000 award into athletics to help all students have a fair chance — strengthening community support for the school. Apple Valley News Now

- ➤ The City of Pasco announced that the irrigation season will end on October 13—sprinklers will be shut off to conserve water after a severe drought. Residents are advised to blow out sprinklers, disconnect garden hoses and check irrigation timers to avoid wasting water. FOX 41 Yakima
- ➤ During Fire Prevention Week, Washington State deputy state fire marshal Courtney Chambers advised people to check for safety certifications on lithium-ion battery devices. Chambers urged that consumers use only the provided cords for charging and properly recycle old batteries—steps that help prevent home fires. 610 KONA
