  • Catholic Charities of Central Washington is seeking volunteers for its Senior Companion Program to help older adults facing loneliness, health challenges, & limited mobility in nine counties. Volunteers will join ongoing virtual workshops to learn skills for daily tasks & effective communication.  Apple Valley News Now
  • Richland police commander Damon Jansen recalled a rare incident last Halloween when a child ingested edible cannabis candy and urged parents to check treats and keep children visible with flashlights—measures meant to ensure safe trick-or-treating.  FOX 41 Yakima

CRIME NEWS

  • Pasco police located 83-year-old Renetee Martin who wandered from St. Vincent Food Bank on Wednesday—she traveled nearly six miles and was found walking along Highway 395 in Kennewick. Authorities thank the public for their many helpful tips.  610 KONA

FINANCE NEWS

  • HAPO confirmed the final merger with Community First and said online banking will be unavailable beginning November 7th at 9 a.m.—all branch, ATM and deposit services will be impacted on November 8th and 9th until branches reopen on November 10th with full HAPO services.  610 KONA

HEALTH NEWS

  • AquaStar USA is recalling its frozen shrimp sold at WinCo and Safeway due to possible cesium-137 exposure+ no illnesses have been reported so customers in Pasco should return or dispose of any recalled product.  610 KONA
  • Walmart has recalled certain canned fruit — including fruit cocktail and halved pears — due to possible lead contamination; Washington shoppers are urged to check their pantries and return the items for a full refund as no illnesses have been reported.  610 KONA
  • Foodynamics and Raw Bistro recalled select dog and cat foods on Oct. 23 due to possible salmonella contamination—no illnesses were reported and the FDA advised affected retailers and consumers to dispose of the products in sealed containers.  FOX 41 Yakima
  • The Black Sheep Egg Company recalled millions of eggs yesterday after tests found seven strands of salmonella in cartons sold under several brand names. Retailers and wholesalers including Ken Hines also began recalling their eggs and no illnesses have been reported.  FOX 41 Yakima

  • Kamiakin High School's boys and girls cross country teams captured the Mid-Columbia Conference titles this season — the boys team won their 17th straight championship while the girls team won their third title in four years.  Apple Valley News Now
