- ➤ Pasco bicyclists must obey Washington traffic laws by stopping at red lights and yielding to pedestrians, and riders may receive tickets for violations (WSDOT rules apply). Local officials remind cyclists to use bike lanes when available to keep everyone safe. 610 KONA

- ➤ Columbia Basin College students held an event called The Last Drive on November 5 to raise awareness about distracted and impaired driving — the event aimed to save lives by encouraging safe driving practices. NBC Tri-Cities

- ➤ A new study of more than 40,000 adults with type 2 diabetes found that following Life’s Essential 8 heart health measures lowered the risk of cognitive decline by 15% and helped preserve brain volume. The research — which will be presented at an American Heart Association meeting — shows that even those with the highest genetic risk for dementia could cut their risk by 27% when they improve their heart health scores.
