COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ A Tri-City branding team working with the city and Pasco Public Facilities District is asking local residents to submit name ideas for the new aquatics facility under construction that will feature lap lanes, lazy rivers, slides, and more; the survey is open to all Tri-City residents to win free passes when the facility opens in spring (it is funded by a 0.2% sales tax increase approved in April 2022). ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents in Pasco are preparing for colder weather as winter nears and experts say to set thermostats to 68°F when at home and 60—65°F when away. The Department of Energy advises lowering temperatures by 7—10°F for eight hours daily to help reduce heating bills. KFLD
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Crews are installing an inflatable dome over Memorial Aquatic Park to allow year-round swimming and keep the pool at 80 degrees. Final inspections are underway on the under-$2 million project—city officials will announce its opening date soon. Apple Valley News Now
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A study released on November 10th found that blood tests may help tell how bad teen concussions are — with boys and girls showing different marker levels. Researchers tested 339 adolescents and the results may help doctors plan treatment. FOX 41 Yakima
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Pasco installed an inflatable pool dome at Memorial Aquatic Park in mid September to provide a year-round indoor space for competitive high school sports — the facility includes proper drainage, air conditioning, and a backup generator while also offering drop-in sessions for the public; the dome will be removed in March each year.
