GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Kennewick Irrigation District is nearly finishing a new 1,800-foot HDPE canal lining along Canyon Lakes Golf Course that began in 2007, and it will help keep water in the canals and improve safety for up to 50 years—work is expected to wrap up in the next few weeks. The project aims to conserve water, stabilize earthen banks, and prepare the area for future drought conditions.  Apple Valley News Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • Kadlec introduced contrast-enhanced mammography in Richland, a new method that uses digital and 3D imaging + contrast dye to detect breast cancer with improved accuracy. The $150,000 technology, funded by donations including $50,000 from Speck Family Motors’ Drive for a Cure, is now available by physician referral to help patients with dense breast tissue.  NBC Tri-Cities
  • An Oregon company that runs 10 senior living homes in Washington, including one in Richland, will spend $7 million to upgrade services and give each resident $250 as part of a state investigation settlement.
